Mike, I will do my best to remember to return the decals in the Feb meeting..... model building has come to a halt until my Dad gets better...... so, I tinker with the Sherman on my desk but the Panther and KV need more time than I have been getting the past few weeks.
I will keep 2 of the red ones for later use when I get a good 1 to 2 hours so I can break out the airbrush and get the white wash on....

Danny, no worries on the decals, just want to see them on the KV. Your dads health is much more imortant than those decals; please give him our best.

Got a little while tonight to use the "Carlos KGR" treatment on the KV...... This is my first try at it, I can see I need a little practice to refine the process, but overall not to bad.




The paint is still wet in these pictures, I think the finish will improve as he dries.
Next will be those red decals!

So decals are on and I have started retouching the tracks and will add some oils to the whitewash...... With luck, before the meeting on Friday.

OK, I have added the final few parts, (head and tail lights, engine lifting bolts) put on some pastels over the whitewash and this KV is done....... I am thinking of doing a diorama of this later on, but for now here is his portrait pics.











I am not a Soviet armor expert, and didn't try and portray any historical tank, but I did enjoy this kit by Trumpeter and found it was easy to build and the engineering were above average in my view. The Lion Roar KV set is pretty nice and well detailed for those who love super detailing.

Looks impressive Dan, I have yet to try that weathering thecnique. Are you going to put some figures and terrain? or display solo?

hehehe, I need a break from this tank.... But, yes, I have a soviet tank crew kit that will be cleaning the barrel, I will mount it on a base with a small hill so they can reach the barrel to clean it!
I think the crew kit was made for a T-34 tank.
I want to have the base done by the end of the year........ for "Winterfest"!
