no probs, hopefully posting pics will help me to keep a diary of the build, and to share my thoughts and problems that i encounter and overcome with you all. using the GPM cardboard model seemed like a good way to get a set of plans. so far i have photocopied the formers and and just starting to glue them on to plywood (marine) to be cut out. i will be using plank on frame technique.

i have been thinking about the hull and flight deck. it occurs to me that i will need to dry fit the hull frames and the flight deck to ensure that the joining around the aa guns is a good fit and is watertight. after all i want to play with my model. and on to the flight deck. do i complete the flight deck, bar painting and then the hull (after all the hull is quite complex with all the cut outs for the lifeboats). i think the tricky part is joining the two so that there is no join line so to speak. i have seen an article in this months marine modler about using magnets to seal and affix the top of a ship to the hull, i will use this i think. one other topic i will need to address in the future is the aircraft. does anybody know where i can get 1/200 scale aircraft in the usa there is one here in the uk but does not do the aircraft i want.

Fury, I think aircraft are going to be your biggest challenge, the only ones I know of in 1/200 are bombers and jets at that.... and of course the 1/200 kingfishers from the Trumpeter Arizona, and I guess soon some Arado's.

hiya
just a quick post just to let you know that I will post a pic soon of the hull when it is ready for planking. I have been busy with work and now my wedding plans and this has slowed me down a little, I am trying to use some coffee stirrers that I get from a bakery here in England and every time I get one I get a small handful of these wooden sticks.
speak to you soon Joe

also I have found a website here in England that sells 1/200 aircraft and has a few links I would like to mention this website and company, what are the rules regarding this. I can confirm that I have no ties with this company at all. regards Joe

Joe, not a problem, feel free to post!
Also, there are strong rumors that Trumpeter or Merit are doing USS Hornet in 1/200. The pictures for the aircraft are around on their website, so I have been told. They are doing the B-25's, SBD's, F4F's and TBD's. that should help out a bit oncxe it happens.

hello the website is www.the-one-true-scale.co.uk/links.htm I hope some of you will find this useful. I must admit that I am interested in the Graff zeppelin in 1/200 not too certain about the hornet unless it is a ww11 ship but I am not certain about this. just some comments about my models my pride and joy when I finish it will be the LMS Fury 6399 steam locomotive in 7 1/4 inch scale which I have been working on for the last 8 years. I am building the Trumpeter Arizona in 1/200. the HMS Hood which is a partwork here in England 1/200 scale as well. and have started to cut the pieces for HMS Ark Royal all are WW11 ships, I think the second world war has the most interesting ships from a modellers point of view. I would like to build the nichimo yamato and some of the destroyers. all in 1/200 scale that way I think it would look great on the boating pond. speak to you soon Joe
