So this year marks a couple of anniversaries that we should keep in consideration when modeling... if you are into modeling for historic purposes Is the 100th anniversary of Marine Corps aviation, and I expect many scale modeling groups to bank on this opportunity to use this topic as a contest theme. Of course I will be really glad to see some gung-ho, hard-core leatherneck models represented in this category. ;D Another anniversary that although is well know, is not often appreciated: The 30th anniversary of the Falkland's War (Guerra de las Malvinas) In the early 80's many of us watched in TV images of HMS Sheffield smoking heavily, and the constant harassment of San Carlos Bay courtesy of the FAA (Argentinean Air force) Really a significant war in the aspect That a 3rd world country was taking on a 1st world country; the UK has just downsized its fleet and it was ill prepared for combat. The Argentineans had been acquiring modern jets and ships, to include the same type 42 destroyers that the Royal Navy had. The few Exocet missiles proved to be fatal to the British Task force. Another first in many years after WWII: an Argentinean Brooklyn Class Cruiser sunk by a submarine; Sea Harries dominated the skies while dozens of Mirages and Sky-hawks plunged to the seas in a daily basis. Great scale modeling topics, great chance to see something different at the contest's tables I hope to see you and your models out there!
