2011 in review....

Well, here is what was built this year. As usual, my goal is complete 12 models in a year.

This was the begining of the year plan...

My plan for 2011 is the following.....
1. Finish a MPC. 1/72 Kaman "Seasprite" helicopter
2. Hasagawa, 1/700 Light cruiser "Tenryu"
3. Finish the Tamiya, 1/700 Heavy cruiser "Indianapolis"
4. Finish the Dragon, 1/700 Light Carrier "Cowpens"
5. Tamiya, 1/35th Panzer III L
6. A Japanese tank, probably the Tamiya, Type 1 SPG
7. Submarine models (a couple, since they are simple)
8. Finish the Trumpeter, 1/350 destroyer escort "England"
9. Finish the Fujimi, 1/72 F7U-3 "Cutlass"
10. Finish the Tamiya, 1/48 F4D-1 "Skyray"
11. Dragon, 1/350 Buchanan or Livermore Destroyer
12. Bronco, 1/350 Type IXC U-boat

oh, and a Revell AG, 1/72 Horton

What was actually completed was:

So I actually completed 5 from my beginning of the year list and went well past the 12 model goal. All the while having a bit of fun building!!

Lets see what 2012 will bring, I still plan on doing at least 12 models and so far the list is:

3. MB 326 trainer, 1/72 Italeri
4. USS Albany, 1/700 Dragon

After this, I have a bunch in mind, but I will have to se what makes it to the bench!

Thanks Dan, I really liked the way the tank award came out.

I'm going to be trying a new theme this year. 2012 will be the year of the air-to-air diorama. I'm a little bored with every aircraft model sitting on the deck, seems almost un-natural. So, all of my aircraft models will be depicting dogfights! The dogfight dioramas will be using several scales to create forced perspective. I have plans for a WWII air battle and a Korean War dogfight. I also will be trying to model some battle damage, and may show a pilot bailing out. Another advantage to the aircraft in the air, is that you'll be able to see more of the model (verses the top-only) and the control surfaces will be in play.

Pretty excited about the projects, and as always, I'm looking for club inputs and ideas.

Many will think about the difference of "quality vs. quantity" and although there is always room for improvement, I am happy with the results, and the shelves are getting full ;D

2012 is the 30th anniversary of the Falklands (Malvinas) War, so I am looking to put some Argentinean models on the table, but is also 100 years of Marine Corps Aviation, so the Flying Leathernecks will also be on my "to do" list

Also, I have been inspired by a couple of my favorite old movies: PT109 and 633 Squadron, so maybe I will find some time to get that 1/72 boat and a 1/48 Mosquito

It's a new year full of possibilities!

Wow! you guys are ambitious! I think I completed the 1/48 Panther, and ...uh, yeah the 1/48 Panther. This year, I hope to get some stalled projects off the bench, and into the display case. That is it. And build something WWI.
