No mystery about this pair, the rules of the contest are simple: To build one F-18 and one V-22 in 1/48 and paint them in any scheme from pre-WWII to Vietnam, and have them ready by SEP 31 The F-18 was easy to find: this is the "E" model from Revell, not bad, but not a Tamigawa either I have already started with the basics, since is an OOB Uploaded with ImageShack.usThe V-22, well, I had to hunt a bit for it, but I finally got it for a fair price. It will also be an OOB model but as you can see, the sheer size of it will keep me busy Uploaded with ImageShack.usAs far as what schemes I have chosen... I'll try to keep you guessing as much as I can

So here is some progress on the F-18: This is the instrument panel and the tub, hand painted, with some decals Uploaded with ImageShack.usUploaded with ImageShack.usThe fitting is poor in some parts... Uploaded with ImageShack.usAnd the engieering has some weird conections Uploaded with ImageShack.usUploaded with ImageShack.usUploaded with ImageShack.usBut after lots of sanding and filling, the model is ready for painting Uploaded with ImageShack.usUploaded with ImageShack.usUploaded with ImageShack.usUnfortunately, this will be the last photos until the model is finished, just to keep you guessing what scheme will have... I will now continue with the V-22...

Nice..... The parts breakdown looked a little wierd to me, I didn't remember my kit being that way........ But of course, your's is an E Bug and mine was a C bug. Now, i know why the difference. The cockpit looks real good from here, nice painting.

This will be cool when finished..... I never realized that the wings were swept forward a little bit until seeing this model. The cockpit detail seems a little worse or less busy than the Revell F-18's.
Just need a couple fire teams in the back........

Thanks Mike, it was a popularity contest and the public voted for Junior Seau's F-18 and an Army V-22 with invasion stripes. Needless to say that those were not the guidelines of the contest, they were suppossed to be centennial Navy and Marine markings, not made up football team schemes Oh well...next time I'll built a Padres' Harrier
