A winner! The Hasagawa 1/72 scale kit. The box and markings are Tokyo Defense 1946....... Hmmmm, well, then it will be so! After the success of the Yamato's sortie to Iwo jima and her destruction of the transports and the kamikaze attacks on the carriers, the war came to a standstill while both sides recovered..... Germany sent new technology and and workers to help defend Japan. Soon, new aircraft were flying in the defense of Tokyo and Japan proper........

progress report on new aircraft...... With the good news from the front, once again aircraft are being protected with Aotake on the bare metal surfaces. This aircraft being flown by Prince Haji is being painted in special cloud colors to give great advantage in attacking the B-29 and B-32s. Wheel wells are in Testors Japanese metalic blue and the airframe is painted in USN blue/grey and duck egg blue "clouds". Of course we now know this is where the USAF got thier idea for the air superiority schemes they tested on the early F-15 and F-16 fighters in the 1970's. It should look good with some bright red hinomarus on it! I considered some "low-vis" markings.... but, I am all for color!
