This is a kit by Revell in 1/240th scale. It has been around a long time. I remember it on my Grandfathers bedroom dresser when I was about 7. I finally built one when I was in my early teens(?) and somehow she survived the years and is still here. You might notice some decals from a 1/72 Corsair on the bridge and the Monogram TBD on the side of her hull. She is painted like I would if I were her captain. I even added weathering. Pretty darn cool paint job huh? I have this kit again (one by revell and one by Advent) and plan on scratching a lot of detail and adding the Gold metal models p/e set. There are also brass barrels availiable for the ship. These ships (around 250 plus ships in 2 classes) served in WWI thru WWII. They served as Destroyers, destroyer minesweepers, fast transports, light minelayers, and some even carried a catapult and floatplane. One (USS Stewert) was lost in Indonesia and recovered/rebuilt by the Japanese then return to the USN and sunk as a target postwar. The British took 50 of these ships in return for bases in the Carribean and used HMS Campbletown to destroy the drydock in Breast, France. This would be a perfect subject for Trumpeter in 1/200th to go with USS Arizona!

Classic!!! By looking at your old kit and the one I'm working on.......nothing has changed. I highly recommend this kit to any modeler who wants to improve on scratch building. It is doing wonders for my skills.
Dan, she looks great.

If you come to think about it, the difference between a 1/200 and 1/240 in negible NO ONE would be able to notice the discrepancy if you put the Arizona and this one side to side in a diorama Now, that would be a great naval scene

Dan . . Great build!! USS Rizal (DD–174) a four stacker named for José Rizal, a Philippine patriot . . .donated to the United States by resolution of the Philippine legislature following WW I . . the first warship to be named as such . . the second namesake (an Auk class) still served with the Philippine Navy . . full article below: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Rizal_%28DD-174%29I wonder if there is available 700th scale kit so I could be saved the trouble of tracing a fuzzy drawing for scratch-build plan... There is a 1/700th kit availiable by Midships models and I think possibly one by Niko models.
There are also kits in 1/240 revell, a 1/350th kit in resin and a plastic one in 1/400th scale also.
I have read about the USS Rizal and will probably build her one day. I also want to do one of the 2 ships that was armed with twin 4" open mounts as well (forgot the name of the ship!). I will use the Revell 1/240th scale kits for my base to convert/scratch to the 2 ships. But I will paint them correctly ;D
