Hi looks like I am the new guy been building for a bit, I dont want to ruffel any feathers but I hope that this is not a stuffy IPMS club!I will post photos of my humble wokk tray soon thank you. I also learned of the passing of Dr.Don Alberts of rio rancho nm. he was one of the greatest builders of all times he was my mentor for over 30 years his work will be missed , I hope that some of the older guys had the chance to meet him and "try"to compete against him.

Welcome Oso, hehehehe, we are not a stuffy IPMS club. We are a breakaway from the San Diego IPMS, not that we hate IPMS (I go to their meetings too) but because not everything they do is what we like.
For me, modeling is fun, it is the subject being built, not the build itself. If I do a great job and win a prize great, if not, thats okay. I do enjoy going to the contests because I like to see models that are built and hopefully to talk with modelers to learn.
So, we are about friends, fun, and models. Welcome and feel free to post away!!!

Welcome to the forum oso, I hope you find what you are looking for among us. On the same lines, I have built models for competition before, but I got weary of the stress and the "need" to please others than sometimes do not appreciate the work itself. As you can see in some of our posts, we have even regressed to build old kits from the 60's and 70's completely out-of-the-box, just for the pleasure of building. At times is enjoyable to put all skills to test on a contest table, but the pressure of wining or loosing takes last, compared to the satisfaction of comments like: "I like your model" or "that is very interesting" In our meetings we compare, discuss and even joke about our models, all over some food, a beer and lots of fun. We hope to see your work soon an delight with another modeler's jobs. Jose
