This is my Xmas exchange gift, and it has to be ready for the Navy Expo by March, so there is no time to waste For what I've seen, this Accurate Miniatures kit is a "Shake n Bake": everything seems to fit perfectly, is very simple and being out-of the-Box, will make even more easy. Most of the model is in aluminum, inside, outside, well almost everywhere.

So, unfortunately, I erased the pics of the cockpit and the engine process but this is where the model stands this weekend: Here is the fuselage already closed together, it fits perfectly, with the exception of the landing gear doors, it's a whole story of it's own. Uploaded with ImageShack.usHere is a close up of the instrument panel. I ended up using the model decals and a punch & die set to apply them to the panel. Uploaded with ImageShack.usThis is the engine, the model comes with some PE and after painting it looks real enough to me...well needs some oil and grime. Uploaded with ImageShack.usThe wings are getting the anti-skid surfaces first and the base color second. Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Despite the humidity, I was able to paint some of the wings and fuselage Uploaded with ImageShack.usThe machine guns were drilled out Uploaded with ImageShack.usAnd I even had a little time to work on the tires Uploaded with ImageShack.usI only have a few more days to finish this "Flying barrel" for the Navy Expo, so it will take priority over my other projects in progress.

So getting closer to the end: The wings got their paint and decals Uploaded with ImageShack.usThe fuselage is now alumminum with a touch of red Uploaded with ImageShack.usThe tires were flattened and weathered with Tamiya pigments, and the bombs painted in "mustard" with oils to give them a rough texture Uploaded with ImageShack.usIf I am lucky, the rigging will go easy and I will finish my Xmas gift this week.

So, here is the model with most of its paint and all of its decals Uploaded with ImageShack.usAccording to the istructions, the wings are "self-aligning" , but if it is like the "perfect fit on the landing gear doors... Uploaded with ImageShack.usWell "Rat's spit!!!" they actually aligned after assembly Uploaded with ImageShack.usTomorrow I'll add up some details, some LIGHT weathering and will be done and ready for the Expo

Yep.... mustard.... Bombs between the war were a yellow color. Even early into WWII, until the old ones were dropped.
De plane boss, de plane! Is looking very cool! I want to know how well the p/e rigging fits those wings!
