F-51-R Interceptor

This Reno racer was my inspiration to build my first What if.....model
All it needed was a USAF marking's and 20mm cannon's and drop tank's



The kit came from Australia. I picked it up on eBAY



And it was blue!!



I cut out the 6xfifties and added 4x20mm cannons from an Accurate P-51. I sanded off some of the detail off the cannon barrel fairings and had to buy another P-51 for the cannon barrel fairings. eBAY to the rescue!



All gray parts are Tamiya,Verlinden cockpit,Accurate P-51 cannon barrel fairings,True detail wheels,Monogram Skyraider pylon's




I was even happy with the way the Metalizer color turned out after the clear coat!!



Then it came time to do all the panel lines, this is the first time I tried it with Acrylic paint and dish soap. It worked!!



I think I'm done with it for now.......


The first model show I have ever been to was the IPMS Orangecon on Oct 10 2010






Hope I didn't ramble on to long for the first time out....

My next What if..... will be an F7F Tigercat in Viet Nam

You can never do to much rambling. The more info the better.

The F7F will be interesting...... will it be NVAF?
