I was reading thru stuff in my hobby room last week and found this ad for the "Knights Scale Model Contest" to be held in Loma Linda on Jan 15th and upon reading the flyer I noticed it was their First annual contest.... hmmmm, and that it was a fund raiser for the "Arts and Crafts program" at the Loma Linda Veterans Hospital...... hmmm. Well, considering how our own First annual show went, and considering that it was also a benefit raiser, I decided to go to this event.
Here is what I found.....
The show was being run by the Knights of Columbus and the event was in St Joseph the Worker hall in Loma Linda. A nice venue for this years event.
Free popcorn for all, plus hot dogs and things for sale outside...
The awards were very nice....
The room...
This turned out to be "Best of Show". A very large car model.
There were a lot of cars at this show...
This diorama won an award.
First place in Armor
Third place in Armor
A nice 1/48th scale British tank.
Another armor kit
Flak 88
This ended up as First place Propeller
A winner in jets
Clean build of the old 1/32 scale kit
Father / son built...
no, not Jerry's
Nice mustang air racer
nice, old Airfix kit....
A-26 in 1/72
third place in propeller
another view of the M-24
A fantastic display of "pimped rides"....
this one missing the rubber ducks that normally swim in the hot tub
The finish on these was beautiful, and all air brushed original art.
And of course, someone had to bring the ships, errr, "watercraft".
Awards for something.... a 1st, a 2nd and a 3rd place.
We had a good time, there was the show for me and shopping for Angelica, lunch at Shakey's and then on the way home by 3pm.
The turnout was small for this, but the organization, venue, raffle and vender's was all good. They should get bigger for next year, I know we will go again!
