Hi all, About 400,000,000 years ago I went into a shop here in San Diego CA, I was looking for some crazy dice for this new game called Dungeons & Dragons. The shop was a place that also sold military models and figures, I saw some of the models on display and I was absolutely 100% hooked. That day I didn't buy dice I bought a Matchbox 1/72 scale WW2 British SAS Pink Panther model with some glue and a little paint and that became a way of life for me for many years. I stopped building when I started having to work full time I haven't built any thing but some Flames of War stuff for a friend.
Oh I almost forgot my point, I'm looking to get back into modeling mainly military figs I like the 120mm stuff I have seen on the net, I know a bunch about modeling I think I have a lot of experience that would be helpful to anyone needing help.
What little stuff I had left from the old days was at a friends house and I lost it all in the ceder fire. It was mostly old series 77 figs, I see they still have a web site up but a lot of that stuff is unavailable I would like to replace it if I could, one day. I am dieing to paint something ASAP can any one recommend a store here in San Diego (I don't think there is any place left here) or a reliable website?
Any way, happy to be here I hope to attend a meeting soon.
BTW the shop was called The Command Post on Convoy Street, anyone remember?

Hi! and welcome to the forum, I remember that shop very well as I use to go and buy all my stuff there many years ago, it doesn't exist anymore but there are a couple more new ones with an average good stock of items, below is the link for a good store in the El Cajon area.. phillipshobbies.com/

Hello Panzerknacker, I remember the command post, I went when it was on Govenors drive, then on convoy st (a couple of spots) then convoy court, and the latest version of the store is "Discount Hobbies" on clairmont mesa blvd across from the bowling alley. It is now radio control heavy, with a fair selection of plastic kits. Very little in the way of figures except for a few 120mm plastic by Tamiya or Trumpeter. No metal. Put a post up for slowbuild on this forum, he paints 120mm, maybe he knows a few good websites. I did find one in Fallbrook the link is here... www.sdsoldiers.com/openingp.htmAlso, welcome to our forum, we would love to see your work posted here. Most of us dabble in figures, usually 1/35, but I know Gabriel and Slowbuild both do 120mm. Also Cptfue makes his own figures. If you are looking for a club, come on down to our meetings, we would love to meet you and talk hobby! Enjoy!

Hello and welcome Panzer to the forum. You can also find some good stuff in www.greatmodels.com on the net for a good price, I love figures too, only done 3 in 1/16 and the rest of my collection in 1/35 that is my favorite scale... I hope you can share some of your work on this wonderfull forum, and welcome aboard... ;D

I totally remember the command post. Used to bicycle there from my folks place. I used to collect cans to pay for my plastic habit

hehehehe, collect bottles in my day and push the old fashioned lawn mower around the hood for a quarter or fifty cents if they had a big yard..... The command post was a treat, but most of my early kits were bought in Food Basket when Mom went grocery shopping, I earned them by pushing the shopping cart. Thise were the days ( ) now it almost takes a century note, but ohhhhh, the quality!!
