What, another Sherman? ? Well, at least they are all different! This is a M4A3 with HVSS suspension, a long 76mm gun wet stowage Sherman with add on armor. Since a lot of the add on armor was taken from recovered German tanks I think this one will paint up nice ;D Anyway, here we go! This kit must be modified from the VVSS kit to become an HVSS the first step is to remove the "old" mounting points (in blue on the instructions) that was tonights task. After A little history note about the tank I am building, it drew blood in anger...... German/Irish blood..... MINE! ouch!

I am a bit stumped by this kit...... the instructions are not very good and I am having a problem on how the suspension attaches to their mount..... it makes no sense! Anyway, pictures tonight! tonight arrives and here is my progress so far. I solved the suspension problem and have resumed construction, Dragon armor is quite a bit different than Tamiya armor kits... It seems like this is not as detailed as a Tamiya. I'll see in the end.

Dad asked what I was building, so I took the Panther and KV up for him to see...... now, he is keeping them for a few days! So, I dragged out the Sherman and continued work on the suspension, once that is done, I think this kit will go together well. I hate road wheels!! ;D

So Gabriel asked me today, where is the picture of the Sherman? Even though it looks like last time I posted months ago, here it is...... RoaDwheeLs, roaDwheelS, rOadWheels!!!! The paint is Vallejo "model color" 889 USA Olive Drab, very different from Tamiya's Olive Drab (XF-62) Tamiya's color is the accepted color for "standard" US Army olive drab, but I think it is also possible for the Vallejo color to have been used (it is on the brown side of OD, while Tamiya's is on the green side of OD) it is more like the USAAF Olive Drab. Anyway, I wanted to experiment with Vallejo paints and this is the test kit for them.

I like that compressor...... I haven't been able to do much lately, Dad hasn't been feeling well... Just a few shots of the Sherman. Work has gone into all the roadwheels and the add on armor. Individual track links are next. I keep changing my mind on how to paint the add on armor, especially after reading the book "Deathtraps" by a tank recovery/repair soldier during WWII, great book! I recommend it to anyone with armor as an interest. overall view, to include a "tree stump" acquired from Bob with some added paint to it. Nice detail, but over enginered.... to many parts. some of the add on armor...

Not much modeling has been done in the past few weeks, but things are improving so a little work has been done. The turret add on armor is installed as well as half of the front add on armor. Track is next, as you can see, each track link needs to be cleaned up, easy but time consuming, thats where I am at right now. I am also waiting to see if Gabriel has a pair of Dragon drive sprockets so I don't have to cut mine in half and re-glue them straight.... oops The track cleans up well and one side is ready for painting and installing part of the track run before I install the fenders which will cover most of it anyway...... Markings will be from a Sherman assigned to the 6th Armored Division in Gieisen, Germany 1945.
