OK, end of day report..... Built without paint... I thought I would test fit the tracks to see if I could install them with or without the side skirts..... Thats when I found out they don't go under the idler wheel!! OH POOP! After a long day at work thinking of the problem while driving to LA, I came home and pulled on it some more and with three hands figured out a way to get them on (I hope), so into the paint shop she goes.. Next up, add the side skirts, gloss coat, decals, and flat coat. Then, the joy of weathering! Oh, and those tracks!

Blody brits! it's a nice looking tank . That reminds me that I have an Abrahams in 1/72 somewhere in my stash. One of these days, I'll get to it.

hehehe, part of the reason I started this kit is looking at the box art you only see 1 or 2 road wheels, so there is not much black to paint!! The Challenger looks cool with these extended side skirts that go to the ground..... almost like a hovertank.

OK, tank is done, I am holding the roof mounted MG off until weathering is done so I don't break it. Glosscoated and decaling is done..... heck, they are still wet! Nice simple markings... Next up, weathering begins tomorrow.... Will it be ready for Friday's IPMS quarterly contest??

OK, weathering has began, first wash was Raw Sienna used mostly to get a little "pop" on the panel lines and detail Tonight I will add some powders to get that dusty, dry, desert feel. Got to google up some images of the challenger II in Iraq. I want to have this ready for IPMS SD quarterly contest this Friday, just for the fun of it. Why, yes, that is the BMD in the background, working slowly on it too, it is not stalled. I have been looking at photos of the real one, it looks like no rubber around the road wheels, I have seen it both ways..... weird. this is a hard scale to weather! I tried a few "dot" filters..... well, it is a small scale!

Hey Dan, the IPMS quarterly contest is in October, so you have plenty of time to paint those wheels

This one is pretty much finished.... A few things learned, Dragon 1/72 scale rubber track sucks, other than that the kit is ok, some of the detail is not as fine as now, but probably awesome for 2004. I have also discovered that weathering in 1/72 is different than 1/35th. It is more fun in the big scale! here is the Challenger 99% finished as it will get, I am only going to do some touch up, maybe add an antenna or two and put it in the "Tanks of the World" display.
