Consolidated B-24 Liberator, Revell 1/72

Here is my latest work a Consolidated Liberator B-24D by Revell
is kind of old and it was already partially assembled and with some glue stains but I managed to disassembled all , clean the parts and sand all the pieces to erase the high raise paneling.

Very nice looking! Although a bit strange in foreign markings.... hehehehe

Did you have to remove old paint?? If so, what did you use to remove the paint?

No the original model only had a few pieces glued together but no paint. What I did was disassemble those pieces and sand everthing to remove the glue and the rivets and most of the positive (raised) details. The good part was that the model came also with negative paneling.

One thing that I did also was to sand the clear parts and dip them in future to be able to mask them and paint them.

If it's a real aircraft, tell me more about it, I never heard about B-24's given away.

Dan during the attacks on Rumanian Oil refineries there were several (at least 3) American airplanes that landed either by error or by damage on rumanian soil, the one I presented was ¨Boiler Maker II¨ a B-24D-25CO US number 41-24294 which was impressed and overhauled by the Rumanian air force and use for fighter training. The airplane was left in its original paint only the national marking were covered and new axis recognition symbols were added and of course the yellow band on the fuselage proper of the eastern front airplanes.
