I know I have about 10 things started, but after the move of the bunker to the command post, I am having a hard time getting started. Looking for all the little bits from the bunker is more difficult than I thought, so, instead of finishing something that has been started before I am ready, I think it will be easier for me to start something "new". After looking at my pile and thinking, I decided to work on last years "Christmas Exchange" gift. I think we all said we would bring them this December meeting. My kit was the "Eastern Express", 1/35th scale, Soviet Airborne vehicle. The BMD-1. This will be a vehicle only on a simple ground base. I have no modern soviet figures to add to this kit. Pictures of box art and components later tonight.

Construction has begun, the fit is ok, there is also flash on a lot of parts that affect the fit. This is not your Tamiya "shake N' bake" kit! The hulls major parts glued up... The turret glued up..... The gun assembly is horrible! The gun is molded off center, and when the turret, gun and mantlet are glued together, the gun is supposed to elevate..... well, the fit is just way to lose, so once it is done and on a base, I will glue the barrel at an angle I like for the base. Paint is being started tonight, I will use Tamiya XF-5 "Flat Green" as the "base coat".

Interesting technique. I would like to see more pictures of it when you have the kit in a more advanced stage as right now it is hard to distinguish any on what you have posted.
The model looks nice and best of all is.. Russian!

I liked the hydrodynamic lines of the main body, they really make it look amphibious, so dont forget to put it in or near water.

;D Work continues on the BMD. Eastern Express kits are not exactly like Tamiya kits! Every part needs sanding, trimming and care in doing it since the plastic is very soft. Working on the drive sprocket I accidentally shaved off one of the drive teeth. Did I mention the plastic is soft?? It has been repaired in this photo. I do like that eastern express had the sprue attachments off of the teeth and on the hub unlike most manufactures who put the sprue attachment right on the end of the drive teeth. I have noticed a problem I have either lost or they are not in the box the end pieces of the hull on each side. Looking on the instructions, they are pictured but without part numbers. I don't see anything that looks like them..... So I will have to cut some plastic sheet to cover over those 2 big holes! While I am working on the road wheels and suspension, I have been adding little detail parts to the hull. Interesting breakdown of parts! I can't wait to start on the 12 sprues of track shoes!! Maybe there are extras in case you break some and I will only have to use 11 sprues.
