OK, so Jose mentioned this in the P-26 topic that we should think of an "old aircraft kit" group build...... Well, I am in, I have an Airfix "Britten-Norman Islander" that I want to build as a Philippine Navy Patrol aircraft...... It is old, and it is Airfix Anyone else??

How old do you mean? is it WWI or just old kits regardless of the model depicted era?

Oops.... I did mean old kits of any aircraft subject. Any aircraft, WWI, WWII, even modern jets as long as the mold is old.

Well in that case count me in. I have kind of several old kits so just set the rules and when can we start..

I was thinking we can go two ways on this: 1) We can build the models completly out-of-the-box, or, 2) Build the models with upgrades made completly out of scratch. It's entirely up to you guys (if it was up to me, no airbrush) but we can discuss the do's and don'ts. I would like to keep it in 1/72 scale so the group built goes faster. (We know what happened to the one in 1/32... ) I will bring my old model next meeting. P.D. Hey Gabriel, this is a good one to start building airplanes from the bare basics ;D

I also think a 1/72 scale build is the best. I like the "do whatever you want" to improve an old kit. Scratch the details yourself, or "purchase" the improvments or even a combo of both. I want to use an airbrush on mine..... but I will live with whatever we pick (airbrush or no airbrush).
To me, the idea is to get the best out of the old tooling by adding the modern aproach to model building. hehehehe, unless we want to use old testors tube glue and brush paint the kit.

I like option #2 out of the box with scratch add ons and a combo of airbrush and brush in 1/72 sounds terrific! I already have started 3 models in that approach (Buffalo, Razorback and the Super mystere) so i am eager to start another one! lets put a start/finish date

Sounds like we have a build.... 1/72 scale "old kit" aircraft from the box with scratch built improvements allowed, airbrush or brush, any decals. Lets start by bringing in the kits to the next meeting (March) and have until the May meeting to bring in the completed kit. I will open a new topic in the group build page....
