yes it is the one that sunk the wasp and also damaged the USS North Carolina and the USS O' Brien.. all in the same salvo! this was the most effective torpedo salvo of the war. Talking about new kits i had in my hands the Lindbergh 1\72 I-53 kit at discount hobby's. it was going for 130$ it seems to me a steep price for a model that is completely inaccurate. more like a toy. even to scratch modify the model into a real looking one cant probably be done. this new aoshima 1\350 scale looks accurate but flagman models are working on the same thing. anybody know if the 2 companies are related? i have noticed thought the years that most companies trend to make a lot of submarines of the same class. it would be interesting to see new classes that have never been made before into a kit. like how about a type IX in 1\72? or the interesting Japanese StO I-200 class Fast attack submarine that could actually outperform a German Type XXI submarine. Look like we're gonna have to wait for the Japanese kit makers to release a "perfect" I boat in the future ;D

I have been disapointed at the early reviews on the Lindberg sub...... oh how I wanted a Japanese boat in 1/72. But I will be getting the I-19, it is one sexy looking boat.
