Any ideas for our August meeting?? The only thing I have is a serious discussion for our BBQ. Does anyone want to share ideas for making trees or other ground work?

Has anybody tried to cast resin parts? or make your own decals? These I would like to see a demo on ( I sounded like Joda)..."Hmmm... the resin, cast you should, if new parts you want... yess..."

OK, here is more info.....
Our guest speaker for the August 14th meeting is Francis "Frank" L. Burger, 15th Air Force, 451st Group, 725th Squadron. He flew in B-24 bombers. Mr Burger is in his 90's and we will need to try our best to start the meeting EARLY..... Gabriel will have the doors open about 6:15pm and Mr Burger will be at our meeting at 6:30pm, he would like to speak early so he can try and be back on the road before it gets to late.
So, make your plans and come enjoy on of our dwindling veterans of World War II.
BUT, Don't forget to bring your models, we will have regular show and tell also!!!!! After all WE are a model club! hehehehe

Another great meeting.... ;D This month meeting we have a special guest, a World War II Veteran : Frank Burger Is a world war II veteran, he was drafted in to the us army and went to boot camp in Camp Callan which was located in la Jolla, California. He was transferred to a base in the pacific northwest after the atack in Pearl Harbor, in December 1941, and later joined the army air corps. As part of the 15th air force, he flew combat missions from Italy into Germany during the war. On his ninth mission, Burger's plane was shot down over Vienna and he suffered shrapnel wounds on his legs. He scape captured for three days, was jail by the local authorities, and later turn over to members of and underground group who opposed the axis. The Gestapo caught up to Burger in Budapest, Hungary, interrogated him and later sent him to a Prisioner Of War camp in Poland. He was later moved to a second camp because of his injuries. After eight months as a POW he was libarated by Russian troops on May 1st 1945. After retiring to San Diego, Burger became a National service officer for the U.S. department of veterans affairs, working with other former POW's . He has served more than 500 POW's obtaining compensation and provading counseling for them. Here's some of his pictures from WWII before and after he was capture. And some pictures of the meeting.... I really enjoy the meeting, and hope to see you next time...
