I have also started the "old" Tamiya Panzer IVD kit. This will be for our old tamiya kit competition. Once that is done I will put this kit in my third diorama. The begining... The turret under construction.....

well, progress is being made, I finally have all 32 road wheel halves painted...... oh yea, it was fun! tonight I put on the first oil wash, and will begin to do some weathering to the lower hull before glueing on the road wheels and adding the track. My goal is to have the tank complete except for details/tools/decaling and final weathering.

I am trying something a little different this build, I will be doing some weathering as I go along. I worked on the lower hull (forgot to put it in the picture) by adding a "dot filter", today I hope to add road wheels and give a light overspray of dirt to the runing gear/lower hull. The upper hull has had some oils added along with a raw umber wash in oils. I will have the upper and lower hulls assembeled for the meeting this coming Friday. I have been thinking of masking and spraying my markings on this tank. we'll see, I might chicken out and use decals! OK, here is the forgotten picture of the lower hull.

A little work was done on the Pz IVD last night, since my knowledge of German armor is about , I have had to make corrections on assumptions.... One of them was that this part was not weathered (rusted).... but with Gabe's help in nazidom, I am learning! So, my brief stint at modeling last night was to rust this part of the exhaust system. Help me I am starting to enjoy German armor again....... BUT I have 9 versions of the Sherman on my shelf! ;D

OK, here is Gunter looking over his drivers compartment, oops, make that getting the feel of his drivers spot.... hehehe Work was also done in the rear, a spring was made from wire for the fenders and the exhaust was finished. Gabe, is the smaller exhaust for the auxilary power unit? Oh, Hans and Dieter were also finished tonight (the Anti-tank rifle team) and will attend the next SSMB meeting.

Work from last night..... Gunter is done.... work on the tools goes along, just a few more on this rolling NAPA store to do. Today, hopefully I will start the rest of Gunters crew mates (4 more) and it will be ready to start the diorama scene.

Dan, the small muffler/exhuast is for the turret rotation motor. Gunters inner shirt should be a field grey(feldgrau) and his piping(waffenfarb) should be pink. It is looking good though, and I'll be glad to see this on Friday, over a beer.

oh my..... I better post an update! After discovering a water wash tech. I wanted to use didn't work over the oil paint filters I had applied, I gloss coated the tank, decaled, and waited for it to dry.... Now it is glossed and I tried the water wash again.... better, but still not quite what I had hoped for. While waiting for the gloss to dry, I got some good work in on the rest of the crew. Here be pictures
