I have been building this side by side with the Starfire. As the glue or paint or putty dries on one, i work a bit on the other. This is the Italieri 1/72 scale kit. It must be a bit old as it has raised panel lines, but it come with a most useful decal sheet. I have wanted to do a Brazilian aircraft for awhile, I really like their insignia, but didn't really want to do another P-47. That was the only airplane I knew they flew. This sheet has marking for Brazil, Australia, and Italy and looks to be very good quality. The kit is simple, definitely not a TamiyGawa kit. I am building it right out of the box. With the kit decals. The box. The kit (as you can see, already under construction) The decals, minus the cockpit decals. The cockpit decals applied, and the cockpit just missing the seats.... The camo will be a challenge and I will add the rocket pods which are in the kit marked as not used. The Brazilian AF used this aircraft as a trainer and light strike aircraft.

I have the Argentinian version in 1/48! And models for the Brazilian air force: how about a TBM Avenger or a P-40N, not to mention the PBY-5, B-25 some T-33, F-5, A-4M, Mirage III, Mirage 2000, S-2E Tracker, HU-16 Albatross and a LOT more

I knew there would be more..... I have only seen the P-47 with Brazilian decals. I know they operate carriers, and figured there would be some skyhawks and other carrier planes......
But, this will look good with a planned Bolivian F-86.

Ohhh, now you are speaking my language ;D Wait so see the Peruvian Mig-29's, the Venezuelan Su-33's, or the Chilean F-16's And don't forget our brothers from the Iberic Peninsula: the spanish have some F-5's, Mirage F1's, F-18's, AV-8's and Eurofighters and some good oldies like the F-104 and F-4 Phantom. When it comes down to it, small countries air forces have A LOT to offer.

but the markings are harder to find.... I like the Spanish roundel too, like the Belguin one the colors are good together.

This project got put aside to work on some ships, I got a little burnt out on aircraft last year. hehehehe, now after fighting with the USS Albany I need an airplane break! So, back to work on the MB 326. The kit is mostly assembled and it is time for the painting to begin. rockets and drop tanks added for the Brazilian light attack bird... Botton painted ft gull gray... top ready for a 3 color camo scheme. The modelmaster colors being used are in the background. More to post after the paint is on.

The four colors are now on, masking was fun, I used a combo of post it pads, tamiya tape and purple painters tape. I only had two boo boos that I am planing on how to fix. The Brazilian 4 color camo looks nice. I will post a few pictures tonight.
I can't believe it's already March and I haven't finished one kit yet! At least I do have the Ingraham at 95%, the Starfire is over 90%, and a couple others that are more than half done, so maybe I will still make my 12 kit goal yet.

Here are the pictures of the painting so far.... So here are the first two colors down, Dk Tan and a medium green with a little interior green added to lighten it up a bit... The masks going down to spray the final color, Dk green. I use the Post It "labels" where I can since they are very low tack, but of course they don't do well around curves. I use tamiya or purple painters masking tape in those areas.... The only "bad" areas after most of the masking was removed was around the air intake and in the middle of the spine on the top. Looks like a little remasking in those areas and spray the tan or dk green will fix them up. I did make a big mistake by adding the rocket pods and extra tanks under the wings which made masking harder. Doh.... I will remember that in the future. Paint, then add the weapons!

Painting has finished and decaling begun.... As well as minor detail painting like the beacon lights.... And this is how she looks today.... pretty much done. A nice clean bird in a semi gloss finish. Overall, not a kit up to todays standards and a little disapointing for the price. Nice marking options though!
