A new round of builds....... This is a bagged kit I bought at Orangecon long ago. It is limited run kit with thick injection moldings and resin details and what looks like a nice decal sheet. It will be out of the box, done in the boxtop scheme. The components... The resin is by True details.

Tonight focus was to detail paint the cockpit and seats, I must admit, I like the way they came out.... The fuselage was also glued together and the next few days will be sanding it back into alignment and prep for the metallic finish on the aircraft......

work continues on the Starfire, the kit needs some putty.... my downfall in modeling is not taking care of seams perfectly, I am hopeing to do a better job this time...... it is just something that I lose interest in real fast and want to rush ahead. I have added some black perm. marker to some of the panel lines I want to pre-shade..... I'll see if this works. Has anyone tried this with markers?

Bad news, it does not work, for some reason the marker makes a chemical reaction with the paint and leaves a yellowish line instead of a darker shadow. But hey! who knows, maybe this timer it works...

I will try a wash after it is built..... or heck, just leave it facotry fresh!

The Starfire is still under construction..... Filling and sanding..... filling and sanding..... Now, I am working on the landing gear doors..... hmmmm, thinning and sanding.... I have also had to go to a new glue since Tamiya thin cement is very hard to get (thanks to the EPA) so I am going to try Mr Cement.... It's a little thicker than the thin (duh) and has a nicer smell to sniff. The wings and elevators were added to the airframe... Putty was added to the top.... Rear.... Bottom... Wings.... Front.... A good shot of Emhars "Engraved panel lines" but the flat aluminum was sprayed and showed some spots that needed work and they were puttied again and I am finishing up the sanding and polishing of those areas. I checked the canopy tonight and it is THICK and doesn't fit well, my option are to sand the heck out of it and then try and polish it clear again, or leave it open and ignore the thickness...

Grrrrrr, small step back on this project. I ran out of Tamiya Flat Aluminum paint and tried to use ModelMaster Aluminum to spray the second coat after I puttied and re-sanded. Well, ModelMaster Aluminum does not cover very well...... It is fine over a solid color, but my F-94 had white putty, flat aluminum, and bare grey plastic..... so, the second coat when on like crap. I went to Discount Hobbies today to get some Tamiya Flat Aluminum, and of course (due to the Govt, Tamiya imports of paints and glue have not happened) they were out of stock. The Tamiya rack had some Vallejo "Model Air" Aluminum in its spot on the Tamiya rack. So, with no alternative, I bought it and will give it a try. I have used and do like the "Model Color" from Vallejo but have not airbrushed any or used the model air before either. Supposedly Model Air is pre thinned for airbrushing from the factory, we'll see how it goes....... Film at 11

Paint report.... OK, I am sold on Vallejo Model Air..... It is what it says, pre-thinned, ready to spray. I got out the good stuff to re-spray the metal on the Starfire, all went well. I will check it tomorrow and hopefully mask off a few panels for slightly different shades to the metal. then on to decaling....

Finally got this back on the desk to finish it up.... Added the decals. Painted the tip tanks anti-glare... Working on the gear and final touches now, should be done this month.

Off the shelf and back on the desk for this one too..... Landing gear and nose added, just a few finishing touches and this will be done. The hardest will be polishing the canopy.
