I thought I would bring down my old girl from her perch in my garage to clean off the dust. No safe place to put her in the house or room for a 1/48 scale bomber for now. I built it in 1987. I used the Revell "Knock Out Dropper" B-17-F fuselage, nose, top turret glass and tail wheel. Everything else is from a Monogram B-17-G including all interior, ball turret, wings, horizontal stabilizers and landing gear. I cut open the Bombay to see the bomb racks and bombs. I added True Details wheels 10 years later. I change things or add to it over the years. I guess your never really are done with them! I added the twin 50's in the nose along with extra support bracing, ammo boxes and belt feed for the 50's and sight ring. The pilots came years later from a monogram B-24-D as did the waist 50's mounts and belt feed. This was first time I kit bashed a model and had a great time doing it! I have a few boxes of models I have built over the years that need some attention and overhauling from moving around I'll post their progress next time.

Nice work, I'm not an aircraft builder but I,ve always liked the B-17. It's as classic as the 68"Mustang

looks good Junkman. I constantly have that battle between size/scale. They look good big, but the store better in the smaller scales.
I have built about 10% of my stash, and used about 90% of my display room..... Where the heck am I going to put that 1/200 scale USS Arizona!
