I decided to move the build part to here.... This kit is coming along good, basic assembly is done, first coat of paint applied, filler added to some areas, sanded again and it is ready for the second coat of paint. does anyone have any easy ways to remove the seams in the nose gear well?? I don't, and even worse i have no desire to take a long time to mess with it!

I remember the worst part about Navy Korean war era jets..... The silver leading edge of wings, tails, and vert. stab. well, I have it masked in Tamiya tape..... nice stuff! and I am going to try a "new" product, "Rub' N' Buff".... ok,ok new for me anyway. I will post the pictures once this is done. Jose, got a picture of that Argentine panther?? That sounds interesting.

Save those decals Jose! Today I had a decal disaster with the panther.... I have been looking at and planing the decaling of this jet in its nice and colorful paint scheme. I don't know how many of you have tried building the hasagawa F9F, this is my second one and I thought I had this problem of fitting the decals over the very complex nose curves solved. Well, I guess hasagawa outsmarted me! I thought by trimming the decal close and cutting it to allow it to go around curves with the application of the "Micro-System" that I could get them to go. Trimming the decals close just seemed to let the edge roll up onto itself while drying and cutting the decals still wasn't enough to go around the nose..... The Micro Sol also seemed to strong for these hasagawa decals (even though I have used it with other hasagawa kits no problem) they wrinkled and never came back. So on they went..... and started to dry... The curvy nose... Until I felt sure they would not make it, and then off they came... And of course taking them off has damaged the paint/glosscoat underneath them... So, the panther will go back into the paint shop for some touch up to the base grey and white colors, and then masking off the areas to have the red to be airbrushed on this time, then it will be re-glosscoated and the "normal" markings put on, they should work ok. If not..... I will have to strike a deal for those Argentine markings!

Since the decaling disaster, the plane has been cleaned up.... getting ready for the masking, the areas in lt blue need to be masked so I can spray insignia red on... Let the masking begin...... I am still hopeful of getting this bird done before the new year.

You know the old saying about Patience.... anyway, after the disaster with the decals, I spent a while masking the markings for airbrushing..... Paint applied, now I will spend time fixing the bleed under!
