I had to start this and hopefully get it finished for this months quarterly contest. This is the Hasagawa 1/72 scale "Nose art combo kit" inside you get a P-47D Thunderbolt and a A-10 Thunderbolt II with special nose art decals. I saw this kit somewhere when I was with John many years ago.... He bought the kit out form under me!! hehehe After many years of asking about it and joking about it during one of our meeting earlier this year John gave it to me to build..... Well, as usual progress has been slow... John has started to ask me if I will build it or keep it in my "collection". Since I don't have a collection I decided I better get started on it. Here is the first half, the P-47D. It is the normal Hasagawa P-47D kit with special decals for this combo kit release. I will build the reclining lady in blue on the decal sheet. Not much of a cockpit, just a "seat" and a panel with decal for instruments. this is an out of the box build. It will have a pilot seated in the plane. It glued up well, not to much filler needed to close the gaps Upper wing panels glued on first to keep the wing root gap closed, later I will add the lower wing panels. More to follow!

So progress is good on the Bolt..... well, until i got ready to paint, I decided to paint on the wing walks, tail stripe and nose but, of course, my insignia red was gone...... So we are on hold, ready for paint, until I get back from the hobby shop today with some paint. I have been spending time filling in a few cracks, sanding and thinning the landing gear doors, and adding brake lines to the main gear. I also found this pair of ancient wings in my Dad's stuff.... kinda cool! hehehehe.

ok, it is near the end! The aluminum coat is on, next spray the red tail stripe, the nose, and the wing walks.... then decal land! oh, I used some Model Master israeli armor sand I had laying around for a primer, then put Tamiya Flat aluminum over it.

The first aircraft in the gift combo is done, and it competed in the IPMS SD quarterly contest. The second part, the A-10 Warthog, will have to wait awhile..... Here is the final part of the T-bolt.... The red cowl band, wing walks and tail stripe were airbrushed Insignia Red and the anti glare panel was airbrushed Aircraft interior black. Decals being applies..... they are from the kit and went down very nice! As final as the finished product will get (about 98% done)! This was actually a fun kit to build! It fit real good, and was detailed ok (cockpit could be better) and came with a pilot.

Yes, the 201 sqd is waiting..... I am thinking of doing 3 in Mexican markings or flown by Mexican pilots.....
Jose traded me a revell P-47D 30 that I need for a 201 sqadron plane, plus I will do a -25 plane of one of the pilots who was killed in training and one other one flown by a Mexican American, he had cool markings....
The 201 I am thinking of a mini diorama.... "Taco's for Tojo" ;D
