I was offered this kit for a great price, $5, so, since I like some of the Soviet aircraft I will give it a try. The aircraft I am going to build is "Red 02" which was involved in the U-2 overflight on May 11, 1960. It will be in overall natural metal. The kit is by "Maquette" and even though the box says 1/35 scale, it is in 1/72 scale. On opening the box, I see good and bad.... the cockpit is very poor, but the canopy is open or closed, the nose and wings trailing edges are molded very thin, but the weapons are bad. The decal sheet looks good and includes stenciling, I hope they perform well! And of course the color of the plastic is awesome!! wink, wink.... this is one BIG airplane kit! Here it is.... the whole instruction sheet, in Russian. the aircraft I will do... The clear parts, and the cockpit tub, started. Carlos is going to loan me a good seat for this kit. Some of the sprues, look how thin the nose ring is! Kit seat, instrument panel, that will need help from the spares box! Decal sheet... Underside of the wing, look how thin the plastic is at the rear, very nice. More to come.....

A quick google search didn't show much, this aircraft seems more like an air defense interceptor than a fighter. I am thinking many were kept in the USSR. It looks allot like the MIG-21. This jet was in service late 1950's to the end of the 1970's. Seems like the Mig- 15,17, and 21 were the export favorites.
