A fellow member of SSMB and my Father passed away early this Sunday morning. Born in this home on Feb. 14, 1925, a native San Diegan, a 26 year USMC veteran who participated in the battles of Cape Gloucester, Peleilu, Okinawa, in WWII. The USMC detachment on board the USS Boxer CV-21 during the Korean conflict and 2 tours of duty in Vietnam including the battle of Hue. An 18 year employee of the San Diego Zoo, and Father of 2 sons and 1 daughter is now resting with his Wife of 61 years. Thank you everyone who greeted him at our meetings, he enjoyed them very much.

His acomplishments will live as long as the Marine Corps lives as part of our history, his memory, will live among us. Since the Marine Corps will live forever, he will live forever too.
The Marine Corps Hymn says it all:
"... if the Army and the Navy ever look on Heaven's scenes, they will find the streets are guarded by UNITED STATES MARINES!"
It is not a farewell brother, I will see you in the next duty station...

Daniel
You know that you count with us for anything, your Dad was so special to all the guys in the club, he will be in our memories for ever.
Be strong and think that he is really happy next to your Mom.
Your friend Gabriel.

Dan, i'm very sorry to hear about your dads passing. He was a great guy, and I sure enjoyed the pints we raised at the meetings. May he rest in peace, and enjoy being reunited with your mom.
