All, If you log on to the Fine Scale Modeler website you'll see a link to their 2010 dream model survey. I've entered two suggestions so far - a 1/144 scale DD-724 USS Laffey, and a 1/32 scale OV-10 Bronco. The USS Laffey is really special and if you look it up you'll see that it actually sunk off Guadualcanal, and then renamed on a new ship, yjay was attacked by about 23 Kamakaze's off Okinawa. It survived! and is now a floating museum. The Laffey website even has a diagram of all of the attacks. The ship was also featured in a "Dogfights" episode.
I'm reading a book called "Flying Black Ponies" about the USN OV-10 squadron in Viet Nam. Pretty impressive war record.
I'm willing to vote for any models anyone suggests, but please vote for the DD. Thanks

Bob, if you will do a smaller scale Dragon has USS Laffey (first ship) in 1/350 and a USS Gearing which can be easily converted into the second USS Laffey. They will yield a model about 15" long.
;D
My vote would be for Tamiya to do a series of M-109 Self Propelled Howitzers..... M-109, M-109A1, A2, A3, and a Paladin. Oh, in 1/35th!
