So, with the national coming to a few hours drive from San Diego, I was wondering who else is planning to go, and if it will be better to try to go as a group, in a couple cars. Also to se for hotels discounts and all that.
I know is almos 8 months out, but this way we can star planning and budgeting something.
Do you guys want to enter the Zeros as a group built?
Well, I leave you with the idea to marinate.

Me and my wife will be going, I think we will go on Friday and saturday (shopping is best when the show ends). As for entering..... I am not sure about having to stay late saturday night for the dinner and all. When can you take your model, after the awards dinner?? Zero....... oh my, I must get started on that..... It would be fun to have a SSMB club entry ;D hmmm, back to needing club shirts again....

Here goes another idea I want to put out there for Phoenix:
Can we, enter a model as a group?
We can choose a model that, we alone would not normally built because of size or complexity.
Then we divide the model into its different sub assemblies and designate them to each one of us.
In the case of an airplane, one of us would build the cockpit, someone else landing gear, someone armament etc. ( like german production style)
If we win or loose, is all a team efford...
Just thinking...

What do you call when many lines come together? I call it..."The Bermuda Triangle"... Currently, there are many forces playing a negative role in my trip to the nationals: Although I'll be back from my trip to Japan on Monday 2nd, I'll be back to a ton of stuff pending from the days I'll be gone. So many days off, put me seriously behind on my projects for the nationals. So bottom line, I still don't know when can I go, or worst case scenario, if I am going at all And to top it off, the people renting my house in Missouri have not pay the rent for 2 months, so now I'm tapping into my savings to pass it by... WHY ARE THE NATIONALS SO DIFFICULT???... That's OK...there is always WinterFest 2010 ;D

;D Jose, my wife would feel safer if we left on Friday and spent the night.... According to google maps it is 5hrs and 47mins to the convention center. here is the event schedule for fri and sat
Fri Aug 6 Sat Aug 7 Convention Registration 9am - 9pm 9am - 12pm Model Registration 9am - 7pm (Closed) Contest Room 9am - 7pm 9am - 4pm Vendor Room 9am - 9pm 9am - 6pm
planning on 6.5 hour travel time, we would have to leave mid morning on friday to view models, but could visit the vendors up until 9pm....
If we leave early Sat morning I would want to arrive at the contest no later than noon, that would give 4 hours in the model room and up to 6 hours in the vendors. I would like to spend at least 3 hours to look at the models, and about 2 hours to look thru the vendors. I also like to look once, take a break to think about what I saw and then re-look at certain things, especially in the vendor room. (this might sound gay......) I would enjoy spending Friday with you, a fellow modeller who "talks the talk and builds the build" but I am also equally open to just doing the Saturday thing too. One plus on spending the Friday is we should be able to leave earlier on Saturday.
let me know your thoughts... Dan

Guys,
Thanks for the excellent pictures of the Nationals. I was planning to go but the model just wasn't finished in time. Better being the enemy of good enough. Did anyone get any pictures of the SCI-FI table? I heard there were only about 125 armor kits there. Sounds like ORANGECON. Anyway, things for me are pretty hectic at work up here at China Lake and when I get home to SD on the weekends - it's time to hit the honey do list. Sorry that I missed the meeting on Friday nite. Hope to have the model finished to enter at OrangeCon in Oct. Just have to finish up the seam filling, then the camo paint scheme, and finally the decals. Still a lot of work to go I guess, but the interior and the engines turned out great.
