Or my atempt to counter so many japanese navy models The only german carrier... Uploaded with ImageShack.usNever finished, of course So, If I show it finished and active...would it be in the "What if..." category? Uploaded with ImageShack.usI'll leave that to the judges, for me... a lot of work to do I began with making it a waterline model and opening all those portholes (no wonder why german ships sink so easely ...with that may portholes) Uploaded with ImageShack.usUploaded with ImageShack.usThen the super struture had to be filled and sanded Uploaded with ImageShack.usAnd what would be a german carrier without JU-87C's and ME109T's. I clipped some of the wings to fold them Uploaded with ImageShack.usI also got some PE and I am waiting some PE portholes, ladders and hatches from China some time in March. Uploaded with ImageShack.usI just hope I didnt bite more that I can chew...

I finally got the PE from China, some ladders, some portholes and hatches. Uploaded with ImageShack.usMost of the initial work will be detailing many little parts before the assembly, like drilling the gun barrels in these cannons and hollowing the search lights. Uploaded with ImageShack.usAlso a lot of preparation to the model to receive the PE: here I had to remove the solid plastic "hand rail" to replace it with PE. Uploaded with ImageShack.usThe original elevator bay is just a box, so I decided to cut it out to replace it with something more real Uploaded with ImageShack.usThis weekend I'll keep working in all the pre-assembly steps and detailing more small parts.

To continue, I sanded the flight deck to make a little "wood" texture. Uploaded with ImageShack.usThere was some molded "chain-link" fence-like openings on the side of the hull, I decided to replace it with cut-offs of a tea bag. Uploaded with ImageShack.usHere is the island with new PE hatches, but as you can see, the portholes are too big and too low, compared with the hatches, so I filled them out with CA and I'll make new portholes. Uploaded with ImageShack.usThe lower deck got some hatches too, but I have to cut-off all molded detail to sand the deck. Uploaded with ImageShack.usUploaded with ImageShack.usAnd the cannons also get some hatches Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Okay Marine!! Now you have my curiosity spiked!!!! This has always been one of those I want to do but only truly crappie kits existed and I DO NOT want to invest that kind of work into it!! Too many for Midway that I need to accomplish and too many other ships I want to build. Love how you are telling step by step and with pictures so I can see what you mean and the end results!! Well done!!!!

Well, now that you mention it... the broken finger was only an excuse to wait for this armament set to replace the original one. Uploaded with ImageShack.usSo now that I have all that i need and I have 70% mobility back on my finger...let's get back to work!
